The main idea reflected in the chapter is the importance of creating questions and how to become your own Socrates. According to the author, creating questions is a step towards understanding regardless of whether the question has an answer or not. Formulating questions provides an understanding and revelation of hidden assumptions, enable an individual to engage with the real-world experiences and discover, vagueness, biases and errors in the process of creating questions. Also, creating questions provides answers to the most complex life theories, solves issues and enhance creativity.
The author seeks to explain how answers may lead to generation of questions because, every situation provides an endless list of questions. The power of what if? provokes many valuable questions to explore deep understanding and identify what’s missing. Creating/ asking the question is an act of confidence that opens up to a greater understanding of the topic. The chapter, however, advice on how to avoid biases when creating questions, how to create alternatives to questions and how creating question enlivens curiosity.

The author has used various examples to emphasize the importance of creating questions. For instance, the author relates to Socrates, a philosopher in human history. Socrates could generate new ideas by generating questions. The philosopher could ask friends and students challenging and uncomfortable questions to provoke the generation of other questions understanding. Socrates could ask questions that challenge human assumption and which could lead to insights. The author relates to the scenario of Mary In the previous chapter. Mary continually formulates answers concerning a question about infinity. Mary always raises more questions, such as whether the solution is correct and how to improve the answer.

The chapter has Helped me in becoming my own Socrates by creating a habit of generating questions in every situation in life. Creating questions enable one to concentrate on essential things in life and stop concentrating on the wrong path. Also, creating personal questions directs one into more significant insights and help in solving life problems. Creating questions enable one to concentrate on features that matter in life and continuously discover and learn to move beyond mere assumptions. Creating questions is a mind-set that we should develop.
