My worldview is based on my Christian beliefs, especially Matthew 25:40, which says, “The King will answer, ‘Truly, I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'” My faith shapes what I value, how I act, and what I expect from the world around me. My faith-based worldview lets me see people from different cultures for who they are, even if we don’t share the same beliefs, religions, or ways of doing things. As an advanced practice registered nurse, I will be taking care of people whose beliefs and ways of life may be very different from mine. Still, if I act like Christ, I will be able to care for all kinds of people safely and well, as well as my colleagues and other medical professionals. Nursing is a calling to care for others and have a heart to serve them, not just the people we think deserve care.
The person being cared for, the environment, health, and the nurse who is giving the care can all be thought of as four nursing concepts (Shelly et al., 2021). God made each person, and his creations are very different in terms of race, age, culture, and beliefs. This is true both with patients and with other professionals. The patient’s internal and external environments are both part of the environment. The patient’s internal environment includes stress, mental health, and spiritual well-being. To help my patients get better, I need to know where they are physically and mentally and include them in their care plan to improve their health as a whole. As a nurse, I can work with many different kinds of people. Using my knowledge and skills, I will be able to speak up for all of God’s children, help them get better, and promote a healthy way of life.
