Report Writing Trends In Criminal Justice
Technology is transforming law enforcement operations in the present century as new technological innovations are introduced for fighting crime (Douglas, 2021). Criminal justice report writing is one of the daily operations benefiting from these innovations. Currently, law enforcement agencies have deployed the automated processing of reporting crimes via the internet using artificial intelligence (AI) (Ernst et al., 2021). As the technological concept of AI continues to grow, their respective developments continue to be an integral part of the law enforcement system. AI technologies are, in fact, compelling and efficient in processing vast amounts of information and obtaining essential insights needed for further improvements within systems.
Therefore, law enforcement agencies are automating the process of crime reporting through the internet and specifically via AI. The report management systems (RMS) have incorporated AI in writing crime reports (Lee, 2021). The systems can search through narrative content via search engine optimization (SEO) algorithms. The AI Resource will significantly increase the ability to analyze finding precise information rather than having to read countless reports for finding similar information. Law enforcement agencies comprise extensive writing and analysis of reports as they try to find clues, evidence, or essential information (Lee, 2021). Therefore, with the help of AI then, law enforcement analysts will be in a better position to go through extensive amounts of information and retrieve the correct data.
I believe that AI technologies will revolutionize criminal justice reports by highlighting the inconsistencies, marking any questionable information, identifying statutory-specific information, and flagging grammatical and spelling errors. The future of police report writing will entail most agencies implementing innovations such as RMS technologies that electronically write, store and manage police reports. Ultimately, report writing in law enforcement will be entirely paperless.
