Scenario C
You are an HR manager or ranking military officer tasked with developing a work schedule that operates 24/7/365. What recommendations would you have based on the neuroscience of sleep? Prior to beginning the discussion read Chapter 8 from Kalat (2019), read the article, Sleep in the United States Military, and consider reviewing the recommended resource, Modeling the Circadian Regulation of the Immune System: Sexually Dimorphic Effects of Shift Work. Based on what you know about how the brain works, what advice would you give? Before starting the discussion, you should read Chapter 8 from Kalat (2019), as well as the article “Sleep in the U.S. Military” and the suggested resource “Modeling the Circadian Regulation of the Immune System: Sexually Differing Effects of Shift Work.”
In your discussion, address the following:
Describe the rationale for recommendations, citing neuroscientific research.
Identify brain structures and pathways implicated in sleep regulation.
Discuss neurobiological implications of dysregulation of circadian rhythms, addressing the effect of different sleep schedules on physical and mental health from a neuropsychological perspective might be.
Describe ethical and logistical challenges in implementing recommendations.
You must use a minimum of one peer-reviewed or scholarly source, documented in APA Style Your post should be a minimum of 500 words. You may cite and reference your textbook or required or recommended reading, but these will not fulfill the source requirement.
