1) Our society is in crisis. Systemic racism, police violence against African-Americans (and other minorities), a global pandemic, and the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression have combined to create a tinderbox of rage and frustration. What can sociology add to your understanding of this crisis and a possible way forward?

2) As you watch “A Class Divided,” pay attention to the process of creating and perpetuating stereotypes. How do the adults and children differ in their reactions to the exercise? What happens when they try to resist? What is the relationship between prejudice and institutional discrimination? Will eliminating individual prejudice and discrimination be sufficient to change the structural advantages enjoyed by members of privileged groups in society?
