networking. The more of the tutorial you can work through, the better;
however, your grade is primarily dependent on how you approach the task
and how much learning energy you put into it rather than specific output
from the tutorial.
Once you have completed your exploration of the tutorial, to finish the
project for this module you are to prepare a 2- to 3-page report covering the
following topics:
• what the tutorial teaches
• how good a job the tutorial does (include any of your personal
experiences with it that might be relevant)

The Ultimate Guide to Home Networking Review
In the article, “The Ultimate Guide to Home Networking” Loyd Case talks us through the process of developing a home network from wired (Ethernet) to wireless (Wi-Fi). In addition, the article also discusses the concept of consumer electronics gear when delivering materials from a user’s PC to their living room and the internet. The article aims to explain the process it takes to share and transfer data between the networked systems in a home. Some of the positive discussion points that we can derive from this paper include the following;
In the article, Loyd has done a commendable work by introducing the key basic options available on network infrastructure for constructing a home network namely; HomePlug, WIFI and Wired Ethernet. Loyd explains that by breaking down all the available options and doing a lot of individual research, user can establish the right set up necessary for their requirements. The fact that the article has used hyperlinks throughout makes it easy for its readers to follow up on a given topic where necessary and thus making it easy to establish the right network setup for their homes.
Finally, the article gives suggestions to anyone looking forward to stream videos to different locations from the internet in their homes to use a wired network. However, gven the fact that this article was written in 2010, this advice would have been the best solution applicable then but today the router technology has advanced significantly with the Internet Service Provider (ISP) bandwidth also expanding which are better options. Nonetheless, the article has given a solid guide that its readers can use to build a network that is suitable for their homes without having to spend a lot of money n the process.
Cisco CCIE Routing & Switching: PfR v Seminar Review
In this vSeminar covering Cisco CCIE Routing and Switching specifically on PfR, Brian Dennis introduces the fundamentals of PfR by giving a real-world description and also discussing the expected future outlook of the PfR. By listening to this lecture, it is easy to understand the basic concepts of PFR especially in regards to what it does and the overall logic behind it. Through this presentation, Brian has been able to explain the role played by PFR within a given network.
The tutorial begins by noting that PFR has had to undergo through a series of changes where advances were made in each change. Dennis notes that before the PFR, Optimized Edge Routing (OER) existed before it adopted the name performance routing (PFR) with more expected name changes in future as more advanced features and functionalities are added. Though PFR is not a routing protocol, it’s able to influence routing in a given network by injecting routes. In other words, Dennis notes that it has the ability to select various paths within a network, doing this on per-prefix level.
There are different phases used by PfR one of them being profile/learning where a typical network tends to have many flows and it is usually easy to optimize everything. AS such, PfR aims to optimize the traffic-class flow. In addition it collects and calculates the overall performance metrics of the traffic-classes. An apply policy is used to compare performance metrics of different traffic classes against specific thresholds to establish where the traffic class is out or in-of-policy. Through PfR’s control and enforce features, the traffic within a given network can be influenced by injecting routes that require a policy based routing process.
The tutorial has done a good job in giving simple explanations about the concept of PfR especially in regards to what it does and the overall logic behind it. In particular, Dennis has been able to explain he different stages of development or advances that PfR has had to undergo through in order to get to where it is and he adds that future developments are expected to follow in the future. By giving clear demonstrations and examples that includes pictures and diagrams, the tutorial has made it easy for its audience to follow and understand how routing in PfR works. This technique is very crucial because it makes it easy for the audience to develop a clear picture of the whole idea behind routing, which is crucial in enhancing understanding.
This tutorial would be very useful to anyone seeking a simple explanation about the role played by PFR within a given network. For instance, individuals seeking to install a network in their homes such an internet connections would find this tutorial helpful because it gives basic explanation about the concept of routing. In addition, networking students would also benefit immensely from the knowledge shared in this tutorial because it gives a simplified introducing to the concept of PfR before undertaking more advanced concepts like configuration. Overall, the tutorial is very informative and would serve as a good reference point for anyone seeking to have some basic understanding about the concept of PfR.
