1. The Mid-trimester Assessment only ONLINE for ALL students; on campus students must also
do the test online. Please read below.

Weighting: 35%
Total Marks: 35
Submission: During class time and ONLINE for ALL students.
Those students enrolled in on campus classes, will also
have their test ONLINE. These students must discuss with
their lecturers:
• If the Week 6 class will be on campus, where
students must bring a laptop to do their test
ONLINE in the classroom environment.
or
• Off campus and ONLINE.
The lecture Zoom link to convert the on campus class to an
Online class for Week 6, is on the subject portal under
“Contacts”, beside the lecturer’s name.
Due Date: During the student’s enrolled WEEK 6 class time and ONLINE
for ALL students.
• Note: STAM4000 Week 6 Monday classes of Brisbane 1,
Sydney 1, Online 1 class are rescheduled – these students
are asked to read their class Announcements for the
Week 6 rescheduled class time.

STAM4000 Mid-Trimester Test T1 2022
1. Extra information
• ONE ATTEMPT PER STUDENT.
• Students must attend their enrolled class as test access is linked to the enrolled
class list. Zoom link is on the subject portal under “Contacts”.
• Students must be on time for their enrolled Week 6 class.
• There is a voluntary Webinar describing this test – students may check
Announcements for Webinar date/time. The Webinar will be recorded and
recording link posted in the announcements.
• Test is OPEN BOOK.
• Test is under Test conditions so NO communication between students – any
cheating will be penalised with a formal Academic Misconduct.
Only work submitted during test time is marked.
• The Practice Quiz is NOT marked.
Assessment Description and weighting:
Duration: 1 hours and 30 minutes = 90 minutes
Total marks = 35
The following weightings per topic are subject to change without notice.
Week and corresponding estimated weightings in Mid-Trimester Test:
1. Data, sampling methods and summarization, 7 marks
2. Charts and descriptive statistics, 7 marks
3. Probability and discrete probability distributions, 7 marks
4. Continuous distributions, 7 marks
5. Sampling distributions, 7 marks
Structure of Mid-Trimester Assessment, subject to change without notice:
o 4 Written questions
o 9 Single answer questions
Note: Students must have their video on for the entirety of their Test.
If a student does not have a working camera on their laptop, they are EXPECTED to join the
Zoom also on their mobile phone for the camera.
The camera must be ON THE STUDENT FOR THE ENTIRE TEST.
TEST IS DONE ONLINE AND UNDER TEST CONDITIONS.
ANY STUDENT WHO:
• LEAVES THE SCREEN WITHOUT NOTICE
• HAS THEIR CAMERA OFF FOR ANY PERIOD
• IS SEEN TO BE TALKING ON THE SCREEN
• USE THER MOBILE PHONE FOR A CONVERSATION DURING THE TEST
WILL HAVE THEIR STUDENT NUMBER AND ENROLLED NAME RECORDED, WITH DETAILS
SENT TO THE KBS Academic Integrity Officer for a formal record of misconduct during a test.

The lecturer will be invigilating or supervising the entire Mid-Trimester Test.
• When the test is to start, the lecturer will use the Chat function of Zoom to send all
students the test password.
• The student then has 90 minutes to complete the test, in class, video on etc.
Any student wanting to leave the test because they finished early must:
• Communicate this to their lecturer via chat
• Submit the test
• Stay on the Zoom until the lecturer has noted that the test has been submitted
• The lecturer will then notify the student that they have permission to leave the test
early.
Communication during the Online Week 6 test is done via the Chat function of Zoom only.
Location: During Week 6 class time, and ONLINE for ALL students
• Note: STAM4000 Week 6 Monday classes Brisbane 1, Sydney 1, Online 1 are
rescheduled – Monday students are asked to read their class Announcements for
their Week 6 rescheduled class time.
2. Unable to sit the Week 6 Mid-Trimester Test during the student’s enrolled class:
Any student who cannot attend their Week 6 class, is asked to fill in a Special Consideration
form and email this to their campus Student Experience Team, within 3 days of their Week 6
class, explaining, with supporting documentation, the reason why they cannot sit their test
in their enrolled time.
Administration will review the Special Consideration Form and decide whether to transfer
the weight of that assessment to the Final Assessment. Otherwise, the student scores 0 for
that test.
3. Hints on what to study for the Week 6 Test:
• Try the Practice Quiz, under Assessments, Mid-Trimester Test, Practice Quiz.
Multiple attempts of the Practice Quiz are allowed and solutions per attempt are
given to students.
• Study Lectures 1 to 5, inclusive – best to summarise these.
• Watch Webinar of Mid-Trimester Test, link will be posted on the subject portal
under “Recordings”.
• Redo lecture examples and supplementary exercises- solutions are on the portal
under “Weekly Materials”.
• Mid-Trimester Test difficulty is like the Practice Quiz and Supplementary
Exercises, but the Mid-Trimester Test questions will be different.
• Watch the lecture recordings – links in previous announcements/emails
4. What you need for the Test:
• Must be done on a PC or MAC – if your campus is open, you can use a KBS computer
to do the test during your class time, you will need headphones.
• Cannot use a mobile phone, cannot use a tablet, cannot use an iPad

• Use Google Chrome or Firefox as your Web Browser (no Safari or Internet Explorer,
please)
• Note: Apple devices have Safari as the default web browser. Change this to
Chrome or Firefox – KBS online assessment does NOT work well with Safari or
Internet Explorer.
• Must have access to STAM4000 subject portal and good internet connection; if
needed, hotspot your phone or go to a location with good internet access for the
test.
• Your own lecture notes/summaries/scrap paper etc. Note: You CANNOT share your
notes during the test with another student.
• Bring your own calculator to the Test. Your calculator should have a power function
and a square root function. If you do not have a calculator, you may use a mobile
phone as a calculator or an online calculator.
• NOTE: ANY STUDENT CAIGHT TAKING PHOTOS OF THE TEST WILL HAVE AN
ACADEMIC MISCONDUCT FORM SUBMITTED.
