Assignment Instructions
A mind map is a learning tool that allows users to create and share visual representations of
things like lectures, notes, and research. Mind maps help students grasp the meaning of a
subject matter and understand the complex materials. Because a mind map is personal, as in
each person involved in the creation of a mind map understand what they are doing, students
integrate themselves with the subject matter and therefore understand and retain information
better.
1- As part of this exercise, you are required to develop mind maps for topics beginning
week 3 to 7 (5 in all). For you to develop your mind-map it is important that you
listen to the lecture video and go through your lecture slides. Additional research on
the topic is always beneficial.
2- Each mind map will be based on the corresponding week’s lecture/topic. For example,
week 3 mind map will be based on the topic Motivation & Personality.
3- Once you have drawn the mind map, write a minimum of THREE key take aways
from that topic. Key Takeaways must focus on implications for marketers.
4- The mind map may be hand drawn or you may use free templates available online.
Use lines, arrows, speech bubbles, branches and different colours as ways of showing
the connection between the central theme or main idea. Do consider using colours.
5- There is NO right or wrong answer. The journey is your own. Every mind map is
going to look different.
6- Final submission: a) Select 2 of your favourite mind maps
b) Compile the 2 mind maps and the key take aways.
c) Write a short essay reflecting your learning journey of about 200
words (+/- 10%).
d) Convert into pdf and submit via Moodle.
Note* Each week you will work on your mind maps for about 10-12 minutes during the
tutorials. Your tutor may ask you to share or discuss your mind map with the class.
