In the United States, unemployment is one of the most pressing societal problems. The economy thrives when the majority of people have work. As a result, significant levels of unemployment pose economic difficulties. It is a social issue because unemployment is an economic and social problem since it damages both the jobless and society at large (Azman et al., 2020). Permanent decreases in productivity and consumption might be expected if workers are not put to use in the industrial process. Because of this, unemployment is considered to be both a significant personal and societal problem. An in-depth investigation of this topic is also necessary to comprehend its relevance at both the individual and national levels. Finding workable answers to this societal challenge requires a comprehensive grasp of its breadth. Solving the unemployment issue is crucial if personal and economic progress is to materialize. Understanding the history of unemployment is necessary to prevent making the same errors that were made in the past.
There is a global coalition of social service agencies that work to alleviate the widespread difficulties of employment. There are many different stakeholders involved in this coalition—governments, corporations and international organizations, and non-governmental organizations and civil society— who work together to learn what works best in tackling unemployment and to share and implement programs based on that knowledge (Hier, 2019).
All people, including those under the age of 35, should be able to fulfill their best potential and actively participate in all aspects of society without fear or favor. This is the vision of the National Youth Policy. Therefore, it is necessary to give youth with leadership and national development possibilities to engage. Young people’s engagement and empowerment are predicted to positively impact economic competition and reduce unemployment (Leon-Guerrero, 2018).
