The Quality and Safety Education in Nursing (QSEN) is a project that aims to integrate quality and safety competencies into nursing education in order to improve the care provided by nurses. The project focuses on six competency areas: patient-centered care, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, safety, and informatics. The goal of QSEN is to prepare nurses to provide high-quality, safe care to patients in various healthcare settings.

Quality Improvement
The purpose of the Quality and Safety Education in Nursing (QSEN) is to prepare nurses with the competencies necessary to continuously improve the quality and safety of the health care systems in which they work.
The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses Education Consortium (QSENEC) is a national initiative of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) to enhance quality and safety content throughout nursing courses in entry-level nursing programs. This project is generously funded by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Complete this discussion by identifying a city, region, or state in which you will assess the quality of care in three nursing facilities, three home health agencies, or three hospitals.
Answer the following questions:
Of the three you reviewed, which nursing facility, home care agency, or hospital would you recommend because of its quality of care? (Identify each as Hospital A or Nursing Facility A, B, etc., rather than the actual facility name.)
Why did you make the choices you did? What evidence was compelling?
What information was most useful to you in making your decision?
What additional information would you want?
Was the information provided in a useful format?
Provide the APA (7th ed.) formatted reference for the site(s) used to complete the activity.
After you have posted your answer, read and respond to at least two classmates’ posts. Use the following ABC approach when posting your response post:
Acknowledge your classmates’ posts. React to their ideas, make observations, or ask questions about what they’ve said.
Build upon these posts by providing additional details, ideas, personal perspectives, interpretations, answers, or links to interesting, relevant articles.
Conclude with a question or new idea to further stimulate the discussion.

For this discussion, I will be assessing the quality of care in three nursing facilities located in the state of California.
Of the three facilities I reviewed, I would recommend Nursing Facility A because of its high quality of care. The facility had a consistently high rating on Medicare’s Nursing Home Compare website, and had received multiple awards for quality and patient satisfaction.
The evidence that was compelling in making my decision was the facility’s overall rating on the Nursing Home Compare website, as well as the specific scores in areas such as staffing and health inspections. Additionally, the facility had received multiple awards for quality and patient satisfaction, which further reinforced my decision.
The information that was most useful to me in making my decision was the overall rating on the Nursing Home Compare website, as well as the specific scores in areas such as staffing and health inspections.
If I were to want additional information, I would want to know more about the specific staff qualifications and training at the facility, as well as any patient testimonials.
The information provided on the Nursing Home Compare website was in a useful format and easy to navigate.

In response to my classmates’ posts, I agree that it is important to consider a facility’s ratings and awards when evaluating the quality of care. I also think it is important to consider patient testimonials and staff qualifications and training in order to get a well-rounded view of the facility’s quality of care. Additionally, it would be interesting to know if the facility has a specific focus or specialty, such as rehabilitation or geriatric care, as this could also play a role in the quality of care provided.
