I will select “The Impact of COVID-19 on Primary Care Providers” as the research problem.
Two statistical reasons why this is a problem are:
Increased workload: According to a survey by the Primary Care Collaborative, 84% of primary care clinicians reported an increase in their workload due to COVID-19. The increased workload is a result of increased demand for healthcare services, and additional responsibilities, such as administering COVID-19 vaccines, conducting telehealth visits, and managing patients with COVID-19. The increased workload can lead to burnout, which can impact the quality of care provided to patients.
Mental health impact: According to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, the prevalence of depression among healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic was approximately three times higher than that of the general population. Additionally, the study found that the prevalence of anxiety among healthcare workers was approximately four times higher than that of the general population. The mental health impact of COVID-19 on primary care providers can have a significant impact on their ability to provide high-quality care to patients.
