Title: Occupational Stress in Oncology Nurse Caregiving: Caring for Ourselves
Introduction
Living each day as if it were the last, at some point in life we don’t know when incurable disease will appear these changes could directly affected is caught off guard, our family and community. Nurses play a crucial role in oncology nursing concern well-being of the cancer patients that position required skills, knowledge and responsibility is about caregivers, psychological support and educator.

Firstly, professional caring is about Help the patient explains the procedure in the delivery of chemotherapy is to ensure that the correct dose and drug are administered by identify the correct patient which is lifestyle change for the patients.
According to the article, “The trauma literature speaks to the intense stress of first responders-those who witness tragedy up front, such as firefighters, police, paramedics, the military, and disaster relief workers. Although we may not think of ourselves as such, oncology nurses also share this role (Boyle, 2015)”. Based on my experience with caring I vividly remembered in Haiti 2010 after the earthquake, being present in such a traumatic experience was very eye-opening. It gave me so much insight when it came to the powerful impact of natural disasters and the necessary measures and actions required restoring order. This experience were very shocking for me to see so many citizen an critical circumstances to the point of view psychologically the emotions were very intense I did what is was necessary to help people with the little knowledge I had at this time. In a general sense, I have always known the responsibilities of a medical worker were not easy, and dealing with.
Secondly, psychological support is one of the most important parts in oncology, nurses need to be competent in their role because they dealing with emotion, in that moment the skills to knowledge and explore patient’s feelings verbal communication takes place, the nurse should be able to provide support and empathize with the cancer patient and the family’s provide concise and clear information of the disease and its treatment. And make the patients understanding the disease avoid misunderstanding and confused expectations. At some point the nurse feel the impact of the disease by the life change to the patient clarify any doubt the patient could have. As mention in the article “Nurses have a longstanding history of witnessing the tragedy experienced by those they care for.”
Thirdly, oncology nurse her role vary educate the cancer patient and their family about the prevention, nutrition, while educating them on ways to cope with the disease in the treatment. Patient and family education starts before therapy and continues during and after therapy. Talk to them about the medication and the potential risks that might arise due to the side effects. As a nurse we’re advocates them in making clear, and concise decisions regarding treatments based on the patient’s goals, and communicating these decisions to the medical team. Educate the patient the procedure the risk that might be cause in her lifestyle also, they must know how to contact medical personnel in case of an emergency and should feel free to do so.
Conclusion
It is imperative the nurse has to educate the community about the importance being out of risk. As a professional were have a duty to caring the patient to make them understand where they going through explain the process to the patient as well the family. It is very stressful to deal with but, being a nurse no matter what situation we’re facing in order to keep professionalism we shouldn’t reveal our feelings toward the patients because we dealing with patient with distressing we must provide them support necessary instruct them how to dealing with stress.
