Violent video games lead to increased aggression nd teens.

Children and teenagers who play violent video games become more aggressive and violent.
Violent video games increase aggression and violence in children and teenagers.
Introduction:
Children and teenagers who play violent video games may become more aggressive and violent.
Some studies have found a link between violent video game play and increased aggressive behavior. Other studies, however, have found no link between playing violent video games and increased aggressive behavior. As a result, the purpose of this paper is to delve deeper into the topic and gain a better understanding of the arguments for and against it.
Arguments in favor Thesis:
Several arguments support the idea that violent video games cause children and teenagers to become more aggressive and violent. According to one argument, violent video games desensitize children and teenagers to violence. Media violence, including violent video games, can desensitize children and teenagers to violence in the real world (Ferguson et al., 2022). This can result in less empathy for victims of violence and a greater willingness to engage in violence oneself. The number of laws in the United States that protect children from violence demonstrates this. The most notable are the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act, enacted in 1974, and the Child Abuse Reporting Act, enacted in 1978. (Lloyd, Nichols & Chasnoff, 2022). As a result, these laws protect children who are victims of child abuse and require authorities to be notified if any child is suspected of being abused or neglected.
Another school of thought holds that violent video games are a form of aggression. Children and teenagers who play violent video games may develop aggressive behaviors. Violent video games, for example, may encourage children to be aggressive toward others or to seek vengeance on those who have hurt them.
Legal Concerns:
Similarly, research suggests that exposure to violence in the media can increase the likelihood of committing violent acts later in life (Dowsett & Jackson, 2019). As a result, in the United States, children have a number of legal rights that the violent nature of video games may be seen to violate, such as the right to a safe and nurturing environment, as well as the right to be protected from abuse and neglect (Lloyd, Nichols & Chasnoff, 2022). In short, several arguments support the notion that video games are to blame for children's increasing valence.
1) Video Game Decency Act of 2007 - H.R. 1531 - Prohibits deceptive acts and practices by video game developers and publishers in disclosing game content to the ESRB.
State and local laws regulating video game ratings or regulating the sale, rental, or display of a video game based on its "constitutionally protected content" are also preempted by the bill.
2) Truth in Video Game Rating Act - S. 568 - Directs the Federal Trade Commission to issue rules prohibiting deceptive behavior in video game rating.
3) Children Protection from Video Game Violence and Sexual Content Act - H.R. 2958 - Directs the FTC to review the ESRB's video game ratings and the GAO to study the impact on children and young adults.
Arguments in opposition:
The counterargument is that playing a violent video game does not automatically make a person aggressive or violent in real life. This is significant because people who play violent video games understand that violence occurs only in the game and not in real life.
As a result, they can distinguish between the two and recognize that real-world violence is unacceptable (Markey, French, 2015). As a result, it is critical to remember that context is everything when it comes to video games. Furthermore, the First Amendment to the Constitution protects the right to free expression, which includes the right for teen perspectives to be considered before making decisions about whether or not to ban video games. As a result, just because a game is violent does not imply that a child or adolescent will act violently. In fact, research has shown that playing video games can improve cognitive skills and social interactions. So, while there may be some short-term consequences to playing violent video games, they generally have a positive impact on children and teenagers.
Furthermore, there are no statistics that contradict the assertion that violent video games cause mass shootings. Most people who play violent video games, for example, do not commit any violent acts (Markey, French, 2015). Furthermore, many factors can contribute to aggression and violence, making it difficult to isolate the influence of video games.
Another counterargument is that violent crime rates are decreasing despite increased sales of violent video games. This is demonstrated by statistics, which show an increase in video games since 2000 but a 50% decrease in juvenile arrests for violent crimes from 2006 to 2019. (Wilde, 2022). One theory is that playing violent video games relieves aggression and frustration, resulting in less real-world violence. Another possibility is that the sales of violent video games coincided with other factors that led to a reduction in violent crime, such as increased law enforcement presence or improved economic conditions. Similarly, the link between video game violence and real-world violence could be coincidental, with no causal relationship between the two phenomena.
Conclusion/Continued Need:
The debate over whether violent video games increase aggression and violence in children and teens has raged for many years. Some claim that violent video games increase aggression and violence in children and teenagers, while others claim that they do not. On this issue, there is no clear consensus, and both sides have valid points. Those who argue that violent video games cause increased aggression and violence in children and adolescents point to studies that show that playing violent video games can cause increased aggression and violence in players. Another study discovered that young men who spent a lot of time playing violent video games were more likely to be aggressive toward others.
Those who argue that violent video games do not increase aggression and violence in children and adolescents point to studies that show the opposite. Learning about the effects of violent video games on children and teenagers is therefore beneficial both academically and emotionally.
Develop further Regarding laws and how they relate to my arguments
More statistics to support the argument Section on how laws do not play a significant role in limiting video game purchases made online through console stores
