In relation to the Americans with Disability Act (ADA), safety professional’s organization is committed to protect people with disabilities that resulted from their jobs, and ensure environment and property safety. Safety professionals dealing with the ADA also allows its professional members to manage, research, supervise and consult on transport, safety, health and environmental issues within the industries, education and government. The safety professional organizations set systems that ensure people with disabilities acquire any lost wages, medical bills due to permanent or temporary impairments consequential from their injuries (Crawford, Johnson & Wingender Jr, 2015).
For temporary disabilities, workers will be eligible to receive compensation for lost wages the time they are unable to work or temporarily disabled. The benefits of temporary total disability are 70% of your mean weekly wages, subject to a maximum weekly amount as set by law. The benefits are valid until the employee’s doctor records that he or she has attained maximum medical improvement (MMI) (Cherner & Leon, 2002). In case the worker has the ability to return to light duty or part time jobs while recovering, he or she shall earn less than the normal wages but still eligible to the partial disability benefits.
On the contrary, benefits of permanent total disabilities are only available for workers who have extremely debilitating injuries. These workers cannot return to back to their previous work and other jobs are as well not equitably available to them. Such workers benefit from the 70% benefits of their weekly wages. Moreover, they are subject to 100% of the state mean weekly wage. These benefits are available as long as the disability continues but until you reach the period of 15 years or the maximum age of social security retirement remunerations, whichever is longer (Cherner & Leon, 2002).
