Regarding the presence of lead in water that exceeded the standards set by the Federal as per the test conducted 2012 June, the company said that the source of lead is from the lead service line. To solve the problem, the company is treating the water with the anti-corrosive phosphates. They are also willing to conduct tests on samples of water from residential houses and trace the source of lead should it be found to exceeds standards. This is because lead is detrimental to human health even if consumed in a small amount. Therefore, it is clear that the environmental issues addressed in the forum are water pollution from the lead service line and drought due to the low precipitation of the area. The impacts of the environmental issues are that water contaminated by lead is unhealthy for human lives because it hampers mental and physical development in children, learning problems, and disease attention span. In adults, it interferes with kidney and causes blood pressure, thus affects the community and society. The possible outcomes from the forum on the environmental issues already mentioned are control of the pollution and reduction of water losses. The environmental issues discussed affect our lives directly thus we should be aware of the information. From the forum, the future considerations in solving the problems are setting ordinance limit, use of rainfall sensors, and home water sample testing.
My option completely changed. It challenged me to be more cautious with everything in life.
