Many of today’s accidents occur because people tend to act ignorant, and do things they are not suppose to do while driving. Driving is a special privilege and skill, which includes paying attention to detail at all times, for the sake of your life and others. Most car accidents, with and without injuries are because people exceed the speed limit, using cell phones, and lack of attention. It is very sad that millions of innocent people lose their lives every year because of ignorance.
Going over the speed limit is a major reason in which many accidents occur in the United States today. If there is a set speed limit, there is obviously a reason, and it should not be ignored; however, in saying that it always is. Not only when speeding are you breaking the law, you might injure yourself or someone else, all because you thought you could get somewhere faster by exceeding the speed limit. I bet you were not thinking that you would be the reason in which someone innocent would be injured or even dead due to your ignorance.
Speeding is the factor in about 40 percent of all roadside deaths, so it is becoming pretty serious. Do not be the one to cause these accidents, you will be the one that has to suffer due to your own ignorance.
The use of cell phones while driving is prohibited in most states. It is a recurring question in my mind as to why people continue to do it. Nothing in this world is more important than your life or the life of another. People get to excited and into a conversation, if it is that important you need to pull over; the road will always be there. Cell phone distraction causes 2,600 deaths and 333,000 injuries in the United States every year. Many people in the world have to die because of technology, and people’s ignorance to it, there are laws set in place for safety; let’s follow them and try to avoid some of this stuff.
Lack of attention, while driving is somewhat amazing to me. Driving is a skill in which you must pay attention at all times, all that it can take is for you to lose it for a second and, Boom!, your gone. There are so many things going on around you when you drive, not only do you have to watch out for you, but all the other people around you. Attention to detail can save a life, you cannot be driving down the road putting on your make up, day dreaming about what you will do when you get home, trying to spank your children in the backseat, or just downright not paying attention.
Bottom line up front driving is a privilege, not a right. We as Americans lose way too many people due to ignorance while driving; whether it be speeding, use of cell phones, or lack attention. We need to start abiding by the laws and see if we can make a difference in the numbers listed above. There should be no reason that innocent people have to die or become injured, due to someone else’s ignorance.
