Psychology essay
Write an initial post of 200 words or more in your own words addressing the following question.
A good friend of yours just had a baby and knowing you are taking this course in life-span development, confides in you about her concerns. She says her baby (2 months old) sleeps "almost all the time" and doesn't seem to look at her when she feeds, rocks, or talks to the child. Because of this your friend is worried about her baby's hearing and vision, and her greatest concern comes from horror stories she has heard about sudden infant death syndrome. She has heard conflicting advice about co-sleeping as well. She's also told you that her baby seems to "thrash about" at things and doesn't seem coordinated.
Using Chapter 3-Physical and Cognitive Development in Infants and Toddlers, showing personal consideration of the topics answer the following:
1. What would you tell her about sleep patterns that a normal baby experiences, co-sleeping, and the best way to reduce the risk of SIDS?
2. What general advice would you give her about infant vision and motor skills?
*Keep in mind, you are talking to a friend, not giving a college lecture on the above questions, put it in easy to understand wording and be sure to cite sources as needed in APA format. To do this, please refer to class announcements in the "Announcement" tab to the left.
Then, after you have read your peers' posts, write a thoughtful reply to ONE of them in 100 words or more.
Both the initial post and the peer reply are due on Thursday by 11:59 pm. It is helpful if you try to do your initial post earlier in the week, so that others have a chance to reply to you.
You will not see others' posts until you make your initial post. At the end of each post (initial and peer), please add the word count in (## words) that the reply box shows.
The response to your peers’ initial posts should be applicable and either initiate or help keep a conversation going. To achieve this, it may be helpful for you to:
• identify the common themes posted,
• share experiences that connect to your peers’ post,
• pose additional questions to your peers’ posts, or
• summarize what you’ve read in other posts
A scoring rubric is posted in the gear drop down box (top, right of these directions) for reference.
