Multicultural issues

Introduction This assignment will be a very integral part of you grade and will take a lot of time and effort on your part if you want to be successful. This assignment requires you to keep a detailed weekly journal of observations, thoughts or anything you come in contact with that speaks to multicultural/cultural issues. Use work experiences, your conversations with friends, observations of others or anything that you find has a connection with multicultural issues and aspects. You will turn this assignment in at the end of Week 6 for Weeks 4-6. Activity Instructions Your journal will include issues that cover race, gender, social class, ethnicity, discrimination, prejudice, stereotypes and any topic covered during the term. Each week, you will incorporate the readings, discussions, and course material and you will reflect on situations that have happened to you, your family, something in the media or what is going on in the real world. You will be asked to reflect your feelings in a word document, three times per week during this term. Your entries must be detailed thoughts and passages about the many topics learned in the course. You will need to reflect on, and integrate, the readings, class discussions or additional research you conduct in the entries and connect them to your family experiences. Each week’s entries (three total) need to be at least 1.5-2 pages of writing. In addition, you can find cartoons, pictures and other items to decorate and convey something about the topic you are writing about. However, do not count these extra decorations in the page count. You will put the entire project in a word document in order of weeks and turn in via Moodle. Writing Requirements (APA format) 4.5-6 pages (approx. 300 words per page), not including title page or references page 1-inch margins Double spaced 12-point Times New Roman font Title page with topic and name of student References page (minimum of 5 resources – at least 3 library resources and the textbook) Grading and Assessment The journal will be graded using the Project Grading Rubric (in Course Documents). Course Learning Outcome(s): 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 1. Recognize why valuing diversity is essential. 2. Identify their perception of diversity. 3. Understand how diversity influences their value system. 4.
