I think that the policing eras had the greatest effect on current policing. The different eras there was a change and information received that helped building the next generation. With the political, thought it was subjected to corruption and bribery, their job mainly order maintenance.  Their they were glorified for being too local in a sense and only maintaining order to whichever side they were loyal to. In the professional era, the idea of separation from the community was established. With the separation, the policing force was able to eliminate internal corruption. The professional era gave birth to the standard of policing we see today with public concern, apprehension of criminals and upholding the law. The issue with this era was the separation of race. There was an increase of abuse of African American and unlawful racial discrimination, the professional era was not an equal system. With the end of the professional era, there was a notion to develop a working relationship with the community. The community should be important as they are a great indicator of crime and disorders.
