Case Study Paper 1
Start Assignment

For this assignment, select and study a case of a morally questionable or clearly immoral business practice and write a ~3 page (double spaced) summary that includes:
1. What happened?
2. Who was at fault?
3. What legal repercussions followed?
4. Who ultimately was harmed and who benefited, if anyone?
5. Analyze what key actors in the case were doing in terms of Laurence Kohlberg’s “Stages of Moral Development”, discussed in Chapter 1 of our textbook. What kind of orientation seemed to be driving their actions and why?
You are welcome to find your own case study, but there are case studies discussed in the back of our textbook you can use as well (Part V for either Edition 2 or 3). You are welcome to write on one of these case studies, provided it is about a specific company and its practices. Below is a list of Case Studies that will work for this; avoid the others as they involve more high level social and policy issues:
Edition 2 usable case studies:
• #3 (Ashley Madison)
• #5 (ExxonMobil)
• #7 (Rajat Gupta and Insider Trading)
• #9 (NFL, NCAA)
• #10 (Monsanto)
• #14 (Volkswagen)
• #15 (Wells Fargo)
Edition 3 usable case studies:
• #2 (Bayer and Monsanto)
• #5 (Volkswagen)
• #9 (Boeing)
• #10 (Wells Fargo)
• #11 (Uber)
• #13 (Amazon)
If you use one of these case studies (or one you research independently), make sure 80% or more of your content is written in your own words and quotes are used sparingly to add to your own discussion of the issue.
Your paper should be formatted in MLA format. Here is a guide for writing MLA-formatted papers: Link, MLA Formatting (Links to an external site.)
