trial drug to other attendees at one of the booths. When you approach one of
the researchers, you are offered a waiver to sign for participation in the
trial.
What ethical or legal parameters should the researchers have
considered prior to distributing the trial drug at the health fair? If you were
on the translational research team, what steps would you have taken to maintain
ethical and legal guidelines?
DQ2 In nursing research, how are respect for the persons,
potential benefits and burdens of the research, and justice kept in balance?
Provide examples of how you would ensure this balance in your research.

DQ1 Discuss how evidence-based practice is defined as
translational research. Describe the framework that supports that definition.
Identify a population health issue you are interested in researching and
discuss the issue using that framework. As you select an issue, remember you
will be building upon your research in this course for your evidence-based
practice project in the next course. Think about how you can focus your
research now to help you complete your EBP project.
Note: While you will only be proposing a solution and
implementation plan in your EBP project, keep in mind EBP projects lay a
foundation for doctoral research, since doctoral candidates have the
opportunity to actually implement their projects. If you are interested in
pursuing doctoral education, it is a good idea to choose an issue you would be
interested in pursuing in greater depth. The research and work you complete on
your EBP project now can be used if you choose to move forward into doctoral
education.
DQ2 Identify at least one barrier that relates to challenges
with population health. Consider how you could employ translational research to
potentially overcome this barrier. Identify the best type of translational
research to address this barrier, and provide rationale for the type you have
chosen. What would be the challenges of using this type? What strategies would
you employ to provide an understanding of your chosen type of translational
research and to gather collaborative support?

Decide on a population health issue that you are interested in learning more about and discuss it within the context of the framework. Remember that you will be drawing on your research from this course for your evidence-based practice project in the following course, so choose wisely. Consider how you might narrow the scope of your research right now to Help you in completing your EBP assignment.
Note: While you will simply be providing a solution and an implementation plan in your EBP project, bear in mind that EBP projects serve as a basis for doctorate research because doctoral candidates will have the option to really implement their projects after they complete their studies. If you are interested in pursuing doctoral education, it is a good idea to select a topic that you are interested in learning more about in more depth before beginning your studies. The research and effort you conduct on your EBP project now will be useful if you decide to continue your studies and pursue a doctorate in the future.
