Operating System
There are so many operating systems available in the market that it’s difficult to decide which one is the best. Search the Internet for information on the following operating systems, and draw a table that compares them in terms of scalability, ease of use, reliability, and cost. The list of choices should include the current version of the following common operating systems:
Windows
Unix/Linux
MacOS
In the table, specify the version of the operating system being reviewed for each category and rate each operating system on a scale of 1 to 3 (1 belonging to the operating system that is the highest in that category [e.g., 1=easiest to use]).
Based on the above analysis, state which operating system you recommend for the following requirements and your justification:
The finance department of XYZ Inc. has hired two trainees to work on a simple database application. Users are going to use the computer for the first time.
Smart Shoppers needs an OS with an easy-to-use interface and also the capability to support dual processors.
A non-profit organization wants to host a Web site and needs a computer to host the Web site. They want a cost-effective solution for hosting the Web site.

Operating System
There are different operating systems in the market each with different characteristics. In this respect, companies and organizations need to adopt operating systems that are convenient for their operations. The operation systems chosen must align with the needs of an organization in meeting the goals and objectives of an organization. The windows, MacOS, and Unix/Linus have different characteristics in terms of reliability, scalability, ease of use and costs and thus organization needs to consider the different traits before they settle for the operating system to use.
Table showing comparing different features of operating systems.
WINDOWS MAC LINUX
Realibility 2 1 3
Scalability 2 1 3
Ease of Use 1 3 2
Cost 1 3 2

The above analysis shows the various characteristics of different operating systems from the highest to the lowest on the scale of 1 to 3.
Consequently, based on the above characteristics one can make recommendations of the operations systems to be used by different organizations and firms. The recommendations, in this case, are based on the different characteristics that align with the needs of the organization. In this respect, one would recommend windows for a finance department that has acquired trainees to work on a simple database within the organization. The reasons for adopting windows are because the operating system is easy to use especially for someone using a computer for the first time. Consequently, one would recommend Linux for Smart Shoppers to enhance easy to use interface and the ability to support dual processors. The reasons for adopting the operating system for Smart Shoppers are because it is reliable. Additionally, one would recommend MacOS for a non-profit organization that is in need to host a website in their computers despite being expensive. The reasons for the recommendation are because the MacOS has high scalability.
In conclusion, different operating systems have different traits that can serve the need for different organizational requirements. In this regard, the different characteristics entail scalability, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and ease of use. When the traits or an operating system align to the needs of an organization then it is the most appropriate operating system to use for the specific company.
