Evidence Based-Practice
Evidence based-practice is a nursing practice that incorporates problem solving approach to nursing which involves use of well-designed studies, patient preferences and values so as to make a suitable decision. The practice also entails the use of medical expertise in coming up with decisions towards patient care and healthcare delivery. Practicing nurses who use evidence based-practice are aware of the levels of evidence to be used in the delivery of care. The systems applies randomised control trials, systematic review, meta-analyses and clinical practice guidelines to ensure evidence based practice is fully implemented.
Also, control trials and randomization, and qualitative studies are used to make inference on patient problems. According to Stevens (2013) evidence based-practice nursing has led to improved quality in nursing education and provision of care to patients. The evidence based practice has improved quality as all care is administered based on research and medical guidelines provided to the nursing practice. Moreover, nurses and other medical practitioners have been involved in developing the nursing practice through research and developing new and better ways of administering patient care in hospitals. Therefore, evidence based-practice in nursing has been very pivotal in the administration and provision of care to patients. Control trials, randomization, and qualitative studies are also used to draw conclusions about patient problems. According to Stevens (2013), evidence-based-practice nursing has resulted in higher quality nursing education and patient care. As all care is administered based on research and medical guidelines provided to the nursing practice, evidence-based practice has improved quality. Furthermore, nurses and other medical practitioners have contributed to the advancement of nursing practice through research and the development of new and better methods of providing patient care in hospitals. As a result, evidence-based practice in nursing has been critical in the administration and delivery of patient care.
Research, Evidence-based practice and Improvement Processes
Research is a very crucial initiative in the nursing practice and education. Research is the study of existing and new forms of nursing practice which are essential for responding to the healthcare changes, patient demands and regulatory implications to the nursing practice. Research helps nurses to develop new ways of administering care and improve the quality of care to patients (Fain, 2017).
Evidence based-practice is the approach that relies on scientific knowledge and evidence to make decisions in administering patient care. It is essentially directed towards improving the quality and efficiency of patient care. The practice has enabled nurses to respond to patient needs fast and within the stipulated time. It has also eliminated delays in the provision of care since nurses are aware and are empowered (LoBiondo-Wood, Haber, & Titler, 2018).
Improvement process is the continuous development in the healthcare practice where all departmental lines work together to ensure patients are receiving suitable and efficient service. The improvement process is aimed at improving patient experiences as well develop quality healthcare practice for the healthcare service providers. It is essential in aligning medical service units such as nurses, nutrionists, dentists, doctors and physician in improving the quality of care delivery to ensure patients are satisfied (Merillat, & Scheibmeir, 2016).
