Work Environment Assessment Template

Use this document to complete the Module 4 Workplace Environment Assessment.

Clark’s Results Summary Inventory of Healthy Workplaces Based on the overall results of the assessment, my workplace has an environment that can be classified as mildly healthy. As a result of these findings, the work environment will be much healthier for the employees (Tsuno et al., 2022). The assessment is significant because it highlights the areas of weakness in the organization’s work environment. It ensures that the work environment is evaluated on a regular basis, allowing for early detection and development of solutions to remove the uncivil work environment.

Identify two aspects of the results that surprised you. Also, identify one idea that was confirmed that you had prior to conducting the Assessment. The first thing that surprised me was how poorly the organization performed in terms of employee wellness. It came as a surprise because the organization already has some programs in place to promote its employees. Another surprise was the low score for work distributions. Even though the organization is attempting to balance its workload, this remains a problem.

The workload issue is one that I discovered to be true and confirms my prior beliefs. This organization’s turnover rate has increased over the last 14 days. As a result, the organization has failed to ensure a re-distribution of responsibilities and to hire new employees to help address the workload issue. The organization has failed to ensure that departed employees are immediately replaced to fill the existing void.

What do the Assessment results imply about the health and civility of your workplace?
The Assessment results show that the organization is doing a good job of addressing the issue of worker wellness. It is promoting its employees by utilizing pre-existing programs. Nonetheless, the organization does not allow its members to ensure that they attend the programs in sufficient numbers. This is primarily due to the facility’s workflow and increased workload. The outcome also demonstrates that the organization has not done enough to effectively address the workload issue. The problem can be successfully addressed by ensuring effective re-distribution of responsibilities and hiring enough personnel to fill the gaps left by the departed employees.

Explain briefly the theory or concept presented in the article(s) you chose.
Explain how the article(s)’ theory or concept relates to the results of your Work Environment Assessment.
According to Sawada et al. (2021), a psychosocial work environment characterized by social support within the workplace social support and climate is linked to employees’ mental health. Individual relationships, interactions, and communication all contribute to and promote the social environment. In healthcare organizations, the social climate influences employee satisfaction, health, job satisfaction, and nurses’ well-being. It also aids in lowering turnover rates among healthcare providers and increasing provider job satisfaction. The goal of social climate is to promote workplace well-being and social support. It necessitates a high level of work engagement on the part of providers.

The article’s concept is related to work environment Assessment because it demonstrates the effects of civility, respect, and employee engagement on the social climate and work engagement. It reveals that a positive social climate and increased employee engagement have a significant impact on the outcomes of healthcare settings (Clark, 2019). As a result, an effective psychosocial work environment (social climate and support) is required to promote workers’ mental health and well-being.

Explain how your organization could use the theory discussed in your chosen article(s) to improve organizational health and/or build stronger work teams. Provide specifics and examples.
The concepts presented in the article can be used by the organization to ensure effective social support and climate for its employees. The management can use the improvement in the organization’s social environment to improve provider engagement. Work engagement is defined as a positive and fulfilling psychosocial work-related state that benefits employees’ mental and physical health. Client satisfaction, treatment outcomes such as drop-out, length of stay, and well-being are all affected by the social climate. As a result, the organization can use the concepts presented in the article to ensure that the social climate is continually assessed and modified in order to improve patient outcomes and healthcare staff morale (Clark, 2019). It enables management to comprehend the various aspects of civility and how they affect the health, satisfaction, and welfare of the organization’s employees. It also reduces employee turnover and increases job satisfaction.

General Remarks/Comments

Addressing the issue of incivility within the organization requires both management and employees to work together. As a result, efforts must be made by the organization’s top management to ensure a successful process of addressing workplace incivility. It is critical to ensure that the issue of work distribution and workload is properly addressed in order to promote the physical and mental health and well-being of workers.

Questions for Discussion

Post a brief summary of the findings of your Work Environment Assessment. How civil is your workplace based on the results? The assessment results show that my workplace environment is calm and healthy. Despite the organization’s efforts to address the issue of employee wellness through existing programs aimed at promoting or supporting workers, it continues to perform poorly in civility (Ramli, 2019).

Explain why your workplace is civil or not.

My organization does a poor job of promoting employee wellness and distributing responsibilities. Employees are experiencing high workloads as a result of employees leaving the organization for other firms (Kun & Gadanecz, 2019). The lack of new staff recruitment as a replacement also interferes with the task distribution process.

Then, describe a situation in which you encountered workplace incivility. How was this handled? Provide specifics and examples. When I was left in charge of the patients in the nursing units, I witnessed the impact of incivility in the organization. I was alone because one of my coworkers was on sick leave. I was tired in the evening and collapsed on the floor because I had forgotten to eat my lunch (Komer et al., 2019). The problem was not addressed right away because I had to wait two weeks for two new nurses to be brought in to help with the massive task at the nursing station.
