Modelling mission maneuver and orbit maintenance DV
Design an Excel spreadsheet which calculates the required DV to transfer your satellite from one orbit to another. The calculation must work for any combination of elliptical orbits. The inputs to the calculation are the details of the initial, final and transfer orbits, and the output is the DV required for each burn. On a second spreadsheet, calculate the required DV to maintain a circular orbit for a given time duration. The inputs to the calculation are the details of the orbit, the mission duration and relevant spacecraft data (cross-sectional area etc) and the output is the deceleration and speed lost during the mission timeframe due to aerodynamic drag and solar pressure. An example layout in Excel is provided. Cells in orange represent user inputs and cells in grey represent calculated outputhnss; bold cells represent final results.
