I’ve learned the most critical parts of being a nurse practitioner in this class. Although all of the information taught in this class is significant, I believe that evidence-based practice, person-centered care, and self-awareness are the highlights. For starters, incorporating evidence-based research into my future clinical practice will enable me to be a contemporary and relevant practitioner. My patients will receive the most useful and cost-effective care since I practice evidence-based medicine. EBP is research-based and personalized in the field of nursing. When compared to expertise and tradition, the application of EBP has resulted in better care outcomes (DeNisco 2021). As a nurse practitioner, I will keep up to date on research and attend conferences in my field to stay up to date on evidence-based practice.
Nursing care is devoted to the total well-being of the patient. Person-centered care emphasizes caring for each patient’s “whole picture,” including their own opinions, preferences, culture, and condition. The combination of EBP with person-centered care enables tailored care with excellent outcomes. Person-centered care is the personalization of medical treatments based on the wishes and needs of each patient. As a nurse practitioner, I will ensure that each patient has a complete intake, including their history, care goals, and preferences. I will better understand each patient and treat them based on their preferences after doing a thorough intake.
Furthermore, self-awareness is a vital trait of a nurse practitioner. As a nurse practitioner, I have observed the value of self-awareness throughout this course. Understanding areas of strength and weakness is critical to ensuring good therapy and professional practice. As a nurse practitioner, I will continually practice mindfulness and reflect on my work. By doing so, I will open my mind to new treatment modalities and welcome ways to improve my practice.
I will devote sufficient time to this master’s program to ensure successful knowledge and skill acquisition. Time management and organization are essential for completing the program successfully. Communication with my academics, present employer, and clinical instructors is essential for obtaining adequate clinical time. Overall, my physical and mental wellness must be prioritized. An effective clinical and professional leader must have good coping techniques, and I want to employ my strategies on a regular basis to limit my risk of burnout. Hiking with my dogs, reading, and spending time with friends and family will help to alleviate my burnout. Despite my busy schedule, I am very excited about this program and am motivated to achieve!
