Project Plan for TechBit
Background Information
TechBit is a young e-commerce company that has been in existence over the past three years. The company was founded by Martin Cheng and Marylin Long in Florida on Janury 2017. TechBit deals with small-scale shipping within the US but is hoping to expand its operations across the content within the next few years. At TechBit, quality communication is belived to be key to achieve the goal of giving consumers quality delivery for their products. There are currently 10 employees and operations are mostly online. By the end of 2019, TechBit was estimated at $5 million in revenue.
Type of business
TechBit deals with shipping services through connecting local businessmen/women with interested buyers. The company relies on cloud based CRM applications to manage client delivery services as well as communicating with manufactures/retailers. Clients are able to access the website or download the business app to find what they are looking for. In short, TechBit acts as an intermediary between buyers and sellers by making it easy for suppliers to deliver their products to consumers.
Description of needed information systems
Databases: there will be the need for both a cloud and API database. Krutz and Nahari (2011) describe databases as part of a bigger software system that serves a business function. Hence, employing both the cloud and API will support large amounts of data as well as the ability for merchants to edit their sites respectively.
Systems analysis: for the business to be successful, the current system will need proper analysis to fix any errors that may be present. Furthermore, necessities to set up a physical hardware system in the new building will need to be analyzed.
Security: both logical and physical security measures will be implemented. This calls for secure access points across the building to protect unauthorized entry into computer/server rooms. Logical measures such as firewalls, and passwords shall also be considered to protect the network from attack.
Networking: Cisco offers reliable networking services and partnering with them will ensure that there are experts to set up the physical devices within the building as well as cloud based services.
Computer infrastructure: Microsoft offers reliable computer infrastructure with adequate devices from computers, cables, adapters and even connectors. Choosing one vendor to supply offers a seamless interaction among components (Ponniah, 2011).
Human computer interaction: the current website is performing well, however, upgrading to a premium plan on Shopify will improve the look and feel of the overall user interface experience.
Web design: there is need to change the current website from a fixed design to a more fluid and responsive design. This will enable support for consumers using various devices to access the site.
