Unit II Nosiemaker Examples
Part 1 Example
INT: Small family dining room—-Evening
HUSBAND and WIFE sitting at paper-filled table: tax forms, receipts, etc.
HUSBAND
(Tired)
How many receipts did you keep? Did you save all of the receipts for everything you bought
over the last year? You do not have to keep every receipt!
WIFE glares at HUSBAND, pushes away from the table and sighs.
WIFE
(Angry)
You never know what can be deducted. If I bought notebooks for my students, that is deductible.
You should keep better track of your spending. Do you not have receipts from all of your
business trips?
HUSBAND, digging through the piles of paper and shoving them off the table.
HUSBAND
(Angry)
Of course I have my receipts. They’re just buried under all of yours.
WIFE shakes her head, stands up and heads toward the kitchen

I know, honey! I bought so many student supplies out of my own pocket this year. I see some of
your receipts from your conference trip. Let’s separate them; maybe we can deduct more than
we think.
HUSBAND, digging through the piles of paper and shoving them off the table.
HUSBAND takes a deep breath and digs into the pile.
HUSBAND
(Smiles)
Of course I have my receipts. They are just buried under all of yours.
I will put mine in this folder. Here is a folder for yours. Maybe we will have a big enough refund
to take a vacation!
WIFE shakes her head, stands up and heads toward the kitchen.
WIFE squeezes HUSBAND’s hand.
WIFE
(Smiles)
Vacation? I vote for Jamaica!
