BI Trends
Many organizations are adopting the use of business intelligence. However, it is important to know that there is the need to engage employees in its implementation so that it can add value to the company. There are various approaches that can companies can apply to engage personnel in using BI. One such approach is data storytelling. This can be attained by taking the team on a data journey, which entails developing a culture of utilizing data and making decisions exclusively based on it. This will strongly motivate the staff to utilize BI solutions daily. Spreading the data culture will also help the employees to be aware of and comprehend BI products and their characteristics and hence increase their likelihood of using these products efficiently daily (tableau, 2019). Another approach entails communicating effectively about BI. According to tableau (2019), analytics can be made actionable by ensuring that the right message is provided to the right person, at the right time, and in a way that they can comprehend.
Training the employees so that they are not scared of the new tools associated with BI is yet another approach. There is the need to train users in the context of the data utilized everyday and how to apply the BI tools to individual business circumstances. Another effective strategy that can be applied is showing the employees how BI outclasses other tools like PowerPoint and Excel. It is evident that traditional spreadsheets are currently not cutting-edge professional analysis and reporting tools (Thierauf, 2018). They are inflexible, static, and greatly inferior to contemporary BI tools. In contrast, BI tools normally permit data visualization from the very start; this way, they create new analyses and forecasts that are much faster and more instinctive (Thierauf, 2018). When employees see this, they are likely to implement BI.
