BSBHRM602 Manage human resources strategic planning
Instructions
You are advised to commence work on your assessment from week 1 and all tasks must be submitted by the due dates provided.
1. All assessments must be completed and delivered individually. Where an assessment involves group discussions, you should consider the input of your group but submit an individual assessment to your trainer.
2. Please read all instructions on completing each assessment. Instructions for completion are provided at the beginning of each assessment.
3. All written answers must be typed in a word document using Arial font, 12 size and single spacing if similar instructions are not provided in the assessment.
4. Your trainer will not be able to assist you in answering questions. However, your trainer will address any issues concerning questions requiring further explanation.
5. You may refer to your student learning resources or any other relevant resources when completing your assessment.
6. Assessments are due for submission as specified in the assessment schedule. Any variations to this arrangement must be approved by your trainer prior to the due date for submission.
7. You have access to computers which are equipped with Microsoft suite of products or any other relevant software and printing facility.
8. Use assessment templates if provided, to complete relevant sections of the assessment. You can also create your known templates for assessment evidence.
9. You must achieve a satisfactory result for all tasks to achieve competency in this unit.
10. All assessment answers should be submitted to the trainer in required format (soft or hard copy) as per trainer instructions with completed assessment cover sheet (if required).

Task 1: Analysis and Forecasting
Performance objective
You will be required to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to research planning requirements.
Assessment description
In response to the Bounce Fitness Simulated Business (provided), you will conduct research to discover what staffing needs are required for the Annual Strategic Human Resources Plan and develop a report, which addresses all questions in this task.
Procedure
1. Read all materials required for this assessment task: this procedure and the Bounce Fitness Simulated Business from eLearning
2. Using the information you have been provided with develop a report that addresses the following:
a. Review the strategic plan documents of Bounce Fitness and discuss what you have learned, including what the targets and goals are and how these will impact on the staff
b. Research emerging practices or trends that may impact on Bounce Fitness staff. Emerging practices or trends are things like changes in the way people buy or the community expectations, economic trends, labour market trends, new products or services that may be introduced, new technologies, political or legislative changes and/or qualification changes that may be required of your staff. Discuss your findings.
c. Discuss how the information from above that may impact on Bounce Fitness staffing in the future, including the number of staff you will need and what skills your staff will need to have based on the results of your findings. How will you obtain these people?
d. Discuss how new technology will impact on Bounce Fitness, job roles and how the jobs are done
e. Discuss recent or forecast changes to legislation that could impact on your staffing.
3. Print and include any documents you refer to from the Bounce Fitness case study.

Your assessor will be looking for:

• Knowledge of labour market options for sourcing labour supply
• Knowledge of the requirements of a strategic plan
• Literacy skills to read relevant documentation and write plans
• Planning and organisation skills to develop and implement plans
• Research, learning and analysis skills to ensure necessary information is gathered prior to writing plans.
Task 2: Planning and Consultation
Performance objective
You will be required to demonstrate the planning skills and knowledge required to develop human resources strategic plans.
Assessment description
In response to the Bounce Fitness Simulated Business (provided), you will develop a report on consulting with the organisations Centre Managers on staffing, for the purpose of meeting the needs of the Annual Strategic Human Resources Plan.
Procedure
1. Read all materials required for this assessment task: this procedure and the Bounce Fitness Simulated Business (bounce.precisiongroup.com.au)
2. Using the information you have been provided with develop a report that addresses the following:
a. Discuss how you would consult with the Centre Managers. Include copies of emails, memos, minutes of meetings or notes confirming meeting discussion
b. Discuss how you will gain agreement on the philosophies, values and policies. Your objectives and targets may include development of areas such as equal employment opportunity and diversity, human resources information systems, induction, industrial relations, job analysis and design, occupational health and safety, performance management, professional development, recruitment and selection, remuneration, staff retention and succession planning.
c. Document your strategic objectives and targets for the agreed plan.
d. Select at least 2 options for achieving your objectives and targets. One of these must be your final choice. These could include external provision by a consultant or contractor/s, having the work performed elsewhere (outsourcing), internal human resources provision of the service/s, and internal non-human resources provision of the service/s and/or merging of business units. Discuss each and why you made the final choice that you made. Include a Cost Benefit Analysis for each of your chosen options.
e. If new technology and systems will be required to support your plan, include a Cost Benefit Analysis.
f. Develop risk management plans to support the agreed strategic human resources plan and manage contingencies.

Task 3: Implementation
Performance objective
In response to the Bounce Fitness Simulated Business (provided), you will develop an implementation plan, which addresses all questions in this task.
Procedure
1. Read all materials required for this assessment task: this procedure and the Bounce Fitness Simulated Business
2. Using the information you have been provided with develop a report that addresses the following:
a. Discuss how you will work with others to see that the plan is implemented as planned and required
b. Discuss the methods you will use to monitor and review the plan
c. Discuss how you will adapt the plan should circumstances change
d. Discuss how you will evaluate and review the performance of the plan against the objectives you agreed with managers in Task 2
3. Print and include any documents you refer to from the Bounce Fitness case study.

Your assessor will be looking for:

Task 4: Role Play
Performance objective
You will be required to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to effectively consult with your Centre Managers in the implementation of the human resources strategic plan, as the organisations General Manager Human Resources.
Assessment description
In response to the Bounce Fitness Simulated Business (provided), you will participate in a 30 minute role play as the organisations General Manager Human Resources addressing each of the requirements of this task.
Procedure
1. Read all materials required for this assessment task: this procedure and the Bounce Fitness Simulated Business
2. In groups of 4 to 6 students (organized by your assessor), you will be required to participate in a 30-minute role-play as the General Manager Human Resources of the organisation. You must consult with your Centre Managers (played by the remaining members of the group) on the implementation of the human resources strategic plan.
You are required to hear their ideas and opinions and negotiate an agreement between them, making changes where possible and appropriate.
Note: Your assessor will complete the following table as they observe you in this role-play, therefore ensure you meet each requirement in the table and utilise it as a guide when preparing for the task.
