Business Law- Task 4
This activity is designed to test your analytical skills. Within a case study, below, you are asked to identify as many potential safeguarding issues as possible and then to match these again the relevant legal framework.
Task
Step 1
Read the below case study of Ivy Jones.
Ivy Jones is a 70 years old and recently widowed. She lives alone in her own home. Ivy has also been recently discharged from hospital after suffering a fall and a broken hip. Ivy is also hard of hearing and partially sighted. Ivy does have a son, Steve, who lives about 2 hours drive away in another city. Ivy now relies on some neighbours and private care package to meet her own health and well being needs. Ivy also employs a weekly cleaner for her home. Ivy’s late husband left her a considerable sum of money. The district nurse who visits Ivy weekly following her hip injury has noticed a change in her demeanour. Ivy now appears withdrawn, and unkempt; she is no longe communicating well, where she did previously.
Step 2
Identify as many safeguarding issues or potential issues as you can in Ivy’s case. This can be written in a list form
Step 3
For each issue you have identified, investigate the relevant legal provision designed to protect Ivy.
Step 4
What action if any, needs to be taken, and by whom? You should aim for 500 words here.
