Discussion Board Forum 4
Instructions:
In Modules/Weeks 2, 4, 6, and 7, you will participate in a Discussion Board Forum based upon ideas taken from the required reading from a given module/week and organizational situations derived from your own current, professional experience or from something you have researched. Each forum is completed in 2 parts: a thread and 2 replies to classmates' threads. Below are the general requirements for each forum.
Note: The audio PointeCast lessons that are required for citing in both posts are not to be confused with the PowerPoint summaries from the textbook. Also, remember that a major theme of these lessons is how the biblical idea of covenant can provide a solid foundation for organizational leadership and behavior. When you cite them, make sure you build upon that major theme and apply it to the ideas in your posts.
Thread: Find a business problem from your own professional work experience or from peer-reviewed journal articles and apply 2 concepts in your thread from the required reading for that module/week. Each thread must be 500–750 words.
The following sources must be included in your thread:
• The textbook,
• At least 1 peer-reviewed journal article,
• 1 passage of Scripture, and
• At least 1 reference from the lesson presentation found in the corresponding modules/weeks in a manner that captures the essential ideas of those lessons.
If you choose to research a professional situation, you must cite all sources you used in current APA format.

CONFLICT MANAGEMENT
A conflict is a process that begins when one party takes it that another party has affected him or her in a negative way, or is about to affect one negatively, something that the first party really cares about.
The angle at which one’s business takes on conflict among employees, the management or even among the business partners may have very big impacts when it comes to profits, the morale as well as productivity (Rahim, 2009).
Conflict is a big source of employee’s turnover and costs the business a lot of money. The government in Queen’s land carried out a research which showed that more than 65% of staff performance is due to strained relationships and not lack of motivation or skill (Diehl & Lepgold, 2003).
Management practices that are good can assist one in avoiding conflict that is not necessary and as well take care of unavoidable conflict in a good as well as a professional way.
This guide gives one some methods of managing any kind of conflict that may arise in one’s workplace.
Conflict Management continuum
The intensity of a certain conflict between two revelries can be seen as a function of both the level of attraction each of the parties have around a given issue or context, and the level of agreement the parties have about how to look at and make meaning about the issue or event.
In a business scenario management continuum involves not any party taking the task of refereeing a conflict, it is rather good for the management not to take sides but rather to bring the arguing parties together and find a solution without being seen as taking sides (Carter et al. 2006).
This reduces friction among employees as well as towards the management. The rate of staff turnover is largely reduced and business operation takes the right angle.
Matrix structure
The matrix organization structure is normally defined as one at which there are multiple lines of reporting – that is, the persons have more than one particular formal boss.
This may incorporate solid and dotted lines or it may mean multiple solid lines to more than one boss. This form of management is highly recommended for businesses since it reduces the collision between the junior staff and the management (Diehl & Lepgold, 2003).
The juniors have to report to different bosses and hence the friction between one partner and the other is highly reduced.
This increase business performance as well as fast execution of duties. The fight for employees to outdo one other interferes with the smooth operation of business (Galbraith, 2009). The business is divided into structures such as Human resource management, financial manager, customer service, business planning as well as operations manager.
Conclusion
For one to operate a business in the right way, one of the important things to observe is conflict. This should be avoided in all possible ways. Adopting the above criteria in business conflict resolution is very important.
The smooth operation of a business should be once key priority.
