Care International poverty alleviating strategies
This paper focuses on Care International as one of the organizations that commit its efforts and resources on poverty alleviation. The organization was formed in 1945 as a worldwide movement with a vision to create a world with hope, social justice and tolerance and where everyone would overcome poverty and live a life with dignity and security. Their mission is to achieve social justice for all, save people’s lives and defeat poverty. The organization uses an approach of ensuring that people have rights and justice in believe that poverty is caused by a lack of rights, assets, and opportunities, being excluded from society, discrimination and marginalization (CARE International | Devex, 2020). They run long term programs to fight poverty by offering sustainable solutions partnering with private sector institutions and policymakers. The organization also focuses on women empowerment and promoting gender equality. The organization fights poverty by responding to disasters, ensuring and educating people on food and nutrition, offering health services, educating people and creating jobs.
Effectiveness of the organization’s efforts
Initially, the organization facilitated American remittances to get to Europe. After world war two, they sent millions of people who were under starvation care packages. In 1993 the organization changed and started offering relief everywhere. Today the organization is one of the best-doing NGO offering poverty-fighting solutions and development projects to more than 100 countries in the world (About CARE, 2020). In 1960 they expanded to offering health care while in 1970, they started offering long-term food security solutions and teaching people sustainable farming programs. They have been working for 75 years, helping millions of people in poor and developing countries to find their way out of poverty.
