As a school administrator, one of the most important roles that you have is to observe employees, evaluate their work, and provide them with meaningful feedback. This clinical field experience will give you the opportunity to observe how instructional leaders prepare for and conduct those feedback opportunities.

Allocate at least 3 hours in the field to support this field experience.

Before you begin this field experience, review the Teacher Coaching and Development Process (pre-conference, observation, and post-conference) introduced in EAD-530. Obtain permission from a teacher to allow you and an instructional leader to conduct a peer observation. Your role is to be present during the pre-conference, observation, and post-conference. You will then meet with the instructional leader to collaborate and discuss your observations and the feedback the instructional leader will provide to the teacher. Together, you will plan to provide evidence-centered, respectful feedback to the teacher on his or her instructional planning.

Use any remaining field experience hours to Help the principal mentor and, provided permission, seek opportunities to observe and/or Help the principal mentor.

Complete a 150-250 word reflection on your experiences. In your reflection, consider the following:

How did the instructional leader establish rapport with the teacher?
What positive feedback did the instructional leader provide to the teacher?
What constructive feedback did the instructional leader provide to the teacher?
What instructional, engagement, and/or differentiation strategies were suggested by the instructional leader?
What suggestions did you provide the instructional leader regarding feedback?
How will your suggestions improve the peer observation?
APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.
