either at home or in the school or center. Suggest at least three ideas your peers can use to link families to STEM. These can be activities, web resources, events, etc.

PEERS POST:

Hi everyone,

Using the Stem learning help children curiosity to grow and expand to higher deeper levels. They learn how to problem-solve, invent, and discover new things from science, technology, engineering, and math. This will give the children the opportunity with their peers to learn interesting, motivating, and fun activities. The materials I will have in my classroom would be natural items, real telescopes, binoculars, chemistry products, cooking, baking, and items to make creative homemade crafts. Computers and iPad will be available also. They will learn how to test, design, and identify new concepts.

Activity that incorporates science:

Air pressure experiment…. Take an empty water bottle and fill it with water. Put a small hole in the bottle and insert a straw, add colored water, and place a small balloon over the top. Place another cup nearby, squeeze the balloon and watch the water come out the straw and flow into the cup.

Activity that incorporates technology:

To explore different tools, I will provide a variety of tools such as, pitchers, cups, funnels, and scoops in a large tub of sand. The children will measure, pour, and scoop the sand using these tools. We will discuss each item and what it does.

Activity that incorporates engineering:

The children will create different building structures using a variety of cardboard boxes. They can paint the boxes, create building structures, create ramps and tunnels using toy cars.

Activity that incorporates math:

Sorting Bugs…….This activity will be sorting a variety of bugs. They will sort by size, color, and texture. We will discuss counting, patterns, and adding.

Activities that are aligned to state standards:

According to, Georgia state standards provide a consistent framework that prepare children for success. They are developmentally appropriate activities that are created to ensure that all students learn the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in school regardless of where they live. Using the Stem concept, it aligns with my state, and it is very important for children.
