She worked from 2010- 2019. She started out working with the youth as a part-time volunteer for approximately five years. She was really influential in guiding them towards their career goals with jobs and applying to college. She served as a mentor and helped redirect a lot of troubled youth off the street and away from crime and illegal activities. The center is located in a high-poverty, low-income community with a very high crime rate. She was hired permanently in the role of Helpant teacher in the child care center while still working with the youth. She trained staff and young adults in different computer applications, personal finance awareness, and financial aid and helped with higher education enrollment.
She is no longer permanently staffed with us due to the closing of our facility because of covid. But she still mentors a lot of the youth from the organization.
