What is standardized terminology?Standardized Terminology-Structured, controlled languages developed according to terminology development guidelines and approved by an authoritative body. approved medical abbreviations, Nomenclature refers to terms established by rules. An example of nomenclature is the North American Nursing Diagnosis International (NANDA-I), which was the first terminology adopted by the American Nurses Association. It is used to identify responses to health promotion, risk, and disease.:
EPIC System Computer and Information Systems in Healthcare
Abstract
According to research, the adoption of healthcare information systems would improve the healthcare industry through a reduction of cost. For instance, the United States would save about seventy-seven billion yearly from the use of healthcare information systems such as the EPIC computer systems (Wager, Lee, and Glaser, 2017). The information systems in healthcare and EPIC systems are vital tools used to enhance efficiency in health care facilities. The use of health information systems promote patients safety, improve staff efficiency, enhance communication, as well as improve healthcare quality in hospitals. The paper describes the use of hospital information systems (HISs), for instance, EPIC systems in a healthcare system.
The article explains in detail the information media systems facilitating storage and presentation of patient’s medical information as well as general hospital data. The EPIC computer systems are useful in every healthcare facility, especially in transferring medical information into other clinical institutes. The paper provides information on the use of hospital information systems in sharing information, especially the use of electronic medical record systems that allows sharing information through a web browser. The goal of this paper is to discuss the application, implementation, and post-implementation of hospital information systems and Epic computer system.
Introduction
Recently, the use of information systems and Epic computer systems has improved health quality as well as the patient’s safety. Healthcare facilities have faced challenges on how to handle medical data, information sharing as well as healthcare quality in the recent past (Wager, Lee, and Glaser, 2017). The adoption of hospital information systems has brought a positive change through the use of Epic computer systems as well as other information systems such as electronic health record systems. The use of HIT in our health facility has, especially in offering primary care, has enhanced quality and safety in systems. The paper is a discussion on the implementation and use of EPIC computer systems and information technology systems in clinical organizations.
The clinic uses health informatics to enhance patients-cantered care through effective handling of critical medical information, for instance, high-quality knowledge such as the MRI, X-rays and sharing lab results to patients and families through social networks, sharing health information about specific health conditions through electronic health record systems and the use of health information to learn about new health cases and treatments(Buttner, et, al, 2019). Epic methods primarily store, access, manage, and share information through electronic media records in the clinic. EPIC systems address issues such as patient’s needs, population health management, as well as revenue cycle management in the clinic.
Epic system tools used in the healthcare system include the healthy planet used to handle medical population information as well as boost population management. The tapestry that monitors and manages healthcare activities (Johnson, 2016). Mobile interfaces such as limerick used in apple watches and Haiku used in smartphones enhance quality care in patients. Lastly, the use of my chart promotes patient-physician interaction, which also includes a section of family health information for patients (Lo’ai, Mehmood, Benkhlifa, and Song, 2016). EPIC systems have the most effective hardware and software.Epic systems use a flex pod structural basis that enables hosting of hyperspace and cogito analytics. Flex pod infrastructure enhances high availability and promotes system performance making it easier for clinic prectitioners. Cisco UCS software is vital in solving datacentre issues and allows the clinical organization to meets its data center goals. The UCS cisco software uses LAN and SAN in monitoring physical ports, I/O configuration, and firmware.
Additionally, EPIC software uses cisco Nexus software for transport flexibility, continuity of operations as well as scalability of infrastructure (Johnson, 2016). Nevertheless, EPIC systems use the NetApp ONTAP software, which is cost-effective in the storage and delivery of information through low- latency. The NetApp ONTAP is storage efficient and has high quality. For computer systems, the unit uses windows ten which is cost-effective, especially in installing and use of a variety of applications.
The clinic use of intranet has enhanced employee’s efficiency and fast working through intra-net user profile recognition, adjustment of medical information based on the kind of task as well as enhanced working relationships. The iris intranet combines all medical information in the unit, for instance, patient’s records, employee’s records as well as global organizations information in one place.
The clinic uses the electronic health record to document medical information, for instance, population health data in the clinic as well as medical details concerning various diseases. The information in electronic health record systems monitors and enhances quality clinical treatments and services as well as monitors social and behavioral factors determining and affecting the clinic’s health information. The standardized clinical terminologies used in the electronic health record systems include the Nursing Outcomes classification and Nursing Intervention Classification (Lo’ai, Mehmood, Benkhlifa, and Song, 2016). The standardized terminologies used in EHR enhance documentation of clinical care treatments such as direct care offered by nurses as well as the use of standardized languages. The purpose of standardized terminologies increases patients care, medical data collection, as well as the promotion of physician’s ethics and professional ethics. The use of standardized terminologies makes it easier to integrate EHR, especially in getting patients medical information, diagnosis as well as clinical judgment.
Conclusion
To sum up, implementing EPIC computer systems and hospital information technology has enhanced the patient’s safety and quality of healthcare. The information systems use in sharing and storing health information enhances the effective running of the facility. The health informatics sends health information to families and friends through the use of social media as well as through electronic health records to other branches of the health facility. Epic systems use unique, and quality hardware and software are to enhance quality storage and protection of datacentres. The health information is, however, documented by the use of NIC and NOC standardized terminologies with electronic health records.
