Fictional Child: Preschool
1. General Instructions: a)General Formatting: All papers in this class should meet the following format guidelines: Standard margins Font size of 12 points, Times New Roman Double-spaced Section Headings: Each paper assignment has guidelines listing specific sections that should be provided in your paper. Please use these section headings within your papers.
b)Reference List: Please include a reference list in APA style. 5 academic references per paper required. Your text may be one of your 5 resources. A variety of sources must be used. Books, journals, articles, etc. & they must be current.
Directions: Focus on the “Preschool Years” of your Fictional Child. The paper must be at least four double-spaced pages long (this will not include your reference page.) Please use the section headings below to organize the papers. The use of outside sources is required and creativity is a plus. The content of each paper must go beyond what we discussed in class.
Introduction: Write a short summary (one paragraph) of what happened to your child in the previous stages.
Physical Development: Describe relevant aspects of the physical development of your child during this stage of life.
Cognitive Development: Describe relevant aspects of the cognitive development of your child during this stage of life.
Social and Emotional Development: Describe relevant aspects of the social and emotional development of your child during this stage of life.
Cultural Influences: Describe relevant cultural influences that affected the development of your child during this stage of life.
Things to consider writing about in your paper:
How is your child progressing on typical toddler issues, such as learning household rules, learning to follow routines, listening to you, developing self-control, and learning to get along with other children?
Discuss the development of your child’s language and cognitive skills. How has this growth in cognitive and language ability affected your child? Have there been improvements in symbolic thinking, reasoning, knowledge of the world, the theory of mind?
How well is your child adapting to social situations in and outside of the home? Does your child have any behavior or emotional problems?
