Introduction
For this assignment, you will conduct research on how to start a community policing unit. Assume you are in a department of 150 officers. You have been assigned the task of researching why the department should start a Community Policing prorgam and how to start a community policing unit to present your information to the Chief of Police by Powerpoint. If the Chief decides to start a Community Policing Unit, you have been assured that you will get a promotion and be in charge of the unit.
This assignment will be due at the end of Module 7. This assignment fulfills/supports:
Course Outcome 1-3: You will have researched, read and written about Community Policing.

This Powerpoint Presentation will be your research in an attempt to persuade your Chief that your department needs a Community Policing Unit.
The Prompt:
PowerPoint Guidelines: You should have 16 slides. Here is a suggestion to get you started:
Title-1 slide- (5 points)The title of your research. Include your name, teacher’s name, course period and name.
Introduction- 2-3 slides- (20 points) Provide the background information on Community Policing, context, study question, relevant knowledge on issue.
Hypothesis/Problem Statement- 1 slide- (15 points) Give a clear problem statement. Why do you need a Community Policing Unit?
Results/Discussion- 5 slides- (20 points) Describe descriptive results. Present any information that is relevant to your subject. It can include text and/or table graphs. There should be statistics included in this section. What does the research state about the benefits of starting a Community Policing Unit? How will it affect your crime rate? What are the benefits to your community?
Conclusions-3-5 slides- (15 points) Summarize the hypothesis or problem statement and results and state whether the research supports your initial thoughts on the matter. Discuss why the results are conclusive and interesting. Include all key points, implications, and create only one slide for each message.
References-1 slide- (10 points) Site your references in APA format. You must have a minimum of 3 references. One can be the text book. NC Live is a good option for your research. You may not use Wikepedia and Legal/Lawyer websites.
Design- (10 points)- Slides display elements of effective design. Fonts, colors, backgrounds, etc. are effective, consistent and appropriate to the topic and audience.
Present the Presentation- (5 points) Narrate your presentation by recording your voice.
Be creative! You may place graphs, photos, clip art, cartoons, and/or video in your presentation.
