 The movie I have selected for this discussion is called “Hidden Figures”. Before a computer became an inanimate object and before Sputnik changed the course of history, before the Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education established that separate was in fact not equal, and before the poetry of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech rang out over the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, a group of black women working at the Langley Memorial Aeronautical Laboratory in Hampton, Virginia were helping America dominate aeronautics, space research, and computer technology, carving out a place for themselves as female mathematicians who were also black, black mathematicians who were also female. Hidden Figures is their story. This story is a perfect example and one of many great stories that helps us see the difficult struggle women went through and the strength of women. 100 words

Being Mary Jane is a BET movie that touched so many women, specifically black women, that they turned the show into a television series. The series is set to last 8 episodes and I’m going to take my wife’s word on how good it is. Mary Jane is a 38 year old successful women that hosts her own show on the news. It appears that she has it all but she really is still missing what she wants the most which is a husband and children.

Moreover, she struggles with the fact that black women aren’t beautiful and she constantly puts sticky notes up around her house for inspiration. This is very true for women today because it seems that the lighter the skin the more beautiful a person is. We all know this is not true but this stereotype is stuck in the world and is a widely held idea from our time period. It shows that women are constantly fighting a battle to want to belong and to show their worth. Also, to be a successful woman in America is the goal for all women. According to the text, “many women workers are moving in the direction of greater opportunity, better wages, and increasing equality with men. 100 words

Martha, a 75-year-old widow, owns more than $2 million in assets. Martha’s son, Jonathan, has two children, ages 10 and 13. Her daughter, Annie, also has two children, ages 9 and 13. Martha has decided that she wants to begin giving her assets to her grandchildren so she can minimize the size of her estate. She specifically wants to provide for her four grandchildren’s college education.

What planning opportunities can you suggest so that Martha can provide for her grandchildren’s education while minimizing any transfer taxes?

 So the first thing that Martha needs to do is to sit down and create an expense report to take a look the reality of the situation. This way then we can understand the strategy process that the situation will cause for. Maybe sitting down with a person to help take a look at the expenses that can and will be eliminated once she is deceased. She also needs to decide when they will have access to the savings and does that mean even if she is still alive by the time they reach the designated age. Once she has completed the outline, then we have to think about the kind of will that Martha needs to go with. At this point Martha can now decide on what type of will she would like to do. I personally would do the testamentary will and possibly a living will depending on the age of the children because you don’t want to designate a death will and you live past the time frame.simply because if there is going to be a certain amount of money and and estate property that has to be distributed. Martha can allow the will to help lessen the stress of having to deal with the lost of a love one. The will will evenly distribute everything with out the hassle of dealing with the family.

 I would recommend that Martha set up trust funds for her grandchildren.  “A trust fund is a special type of legal entity that holds property for the benefit of another person, group, or organization”(Kennon, J).  There are many tax advantages when using a trust fund, such as maximizing estate taxes.  I think this would be the best way for Martha to make sure each one of her grandchildren have their college education paid for when they go to college.  Setting up trust funds is one of the most often ways grandparents can make sure their grandchildren’s college educations are paid for.
