Grant Money in Action
In several nations, public bodies, specialized grant-making institutions, and some charitable foundations always provide grants to entities (such as businesses, local government body, or non-profit organizations) and even individuals to conduct researches linked to public benefits. There several researches that have been funded by grant money to help better the lives of citizens. An example of the research fully funded by grant money is research n Ebola Virus Disease. The research was conducted from 2015, when Ebola disease was terrorizing many parts of Western Africa, and published in 2019. The research intensely described Ebola virus, it’s nature and how it is transmitted from one individual to another. The main aim of the research was to determine how Ebola can be prevented and its spread be reduced to a minimum level. The disease was attacking vulnerable countries with high population and underdeveloped medical systems such as Africa. Therefore, the research was important because it recognized some of the measures that can be taken in place to minimize the spread of Ebola, thus, reducing numerous deaths due to the disease. Further, the research also pointed out some of the vaccines that has been developed to help reduce the spread of Ebola in different nations.
The research was mainly sponsored by World Health Organization. The organization gave out huge funds to individuals to help them in various researches concerning Ebola virus outbreak and how it can be controlled. The mission of the organization to minimize deaths in the affected population by reducing the spread of Ebola. The funds the organization were giving to individuals were to be used specifically for the purpose of researching ways of minimizing the spread of Ebola.
