Part B Purchasing Proposal Essay
As a department manager at the Xavier Hotel, you have been asked to research and recommend a product for purchase by the hotel.
The item you are assigned to research is Floor lamp.
For this assignment, you will research three different products that serve the same function (three floor lamps). You will then write an essay that compares these three products and then recommends that the hotel purchase one of them. Your essay should address all of the questions outlined below. Your essay should provide enough specific details about the three products you researched that the other managers who review your report would be able to make an informed purchasing decision. You will look into three different products that do the same thing for this assignment. Then you will write an essay comparing these three products and telling the hotel which one you think they should buy. Your essay should answer all of the following questions. Your essay should give enough specific information about the three products you looked into so that other managers who look at your report can make a good decision about what to buy.
1. The Xavier Hotel has 450 rooms. What quantity of your item should the hotel purchase? For example, if your item were coffeemakers, you might recommend that the hotel purchase 450, to have one for each guestroom.
2. Identify three different products to compare. Each product should come from a different wholesale vendor. Be specific about which products you are comparing.
3. Describe each of the three products in detail. Include at least one picture of each product. Compare the three products by identifying any differences in the products’ appearance or features.
4. How durable is each product? If online user reviews are available, provide average ratings or include a few illustrative quotations. Compare the products by identifying any apparent differences in durability.
5. What is the expected lifecycle of each product? What is the manufacturer’s warrantee? Compare the products by identifying any differences in expected lifecycles or warrantees.
6. How much does each product cost? For each item, find at least three different prices from three different wholesale (business-to-business) sources. Compare the products by identifying any differences in pricing.
7. Which of the three products do you recommend that the hotel purchase? Explain your reasons for selecting that specific product.
