How did the Cold War impact US cultural life? What areas were impacted the most? Did our cultural beliefs create an outside group or “other than American” group? In past discussion and in our history, how did we handle this group? In the article by Whitfield, what did he consider Americans’ birthrights (even today what do we consider our birthrights and how do we defend them). Do you agree with Whitfield’s assess and if not then what do you consider to be American birthrights?
Popular “pop” culture influences our lives today. What are some examples that pop culture shapes how we see the world? What do we see in film (stories) and hear in music (lyrics)? And where do we see these films and listen to this music (traditionally through theaters and radio, some will soon ask, what is a radio?)? How have these items become individualized?
