Task

Your assignment is to write a structured essay “critically examining the role of HRM in achieving sustained organizational performance in an organization of your choice and produce recommendations to enhance current practice.”

To do this, the essay should be made of two parts.

Part 1 [85%] should consider the following

Identify the organizations’ overall strategy and its HRM strategy [10%];
Discuss the nature and characteristics of HRM, drawing on theory [15%];
Identify the main features of people management strategies, tools and procedures in your chosen organization for TWO topics [25%];
Critically analyze HR practice-based challenges, relating rhetoric to reality [20%];
Assess the arguments for and against HR achieving sustained organizational performance [10%];
Overall Presentation& use of sources/referencing [5%]
Part 2 [15%] should, based upon Part 1, propose FOUR strategically and culturally appropriate HR practice recommendations [8%] for your selected organization in relation to your two chosen topics. These should be in the form of a visually impactful poster [7%] that could be used by the HR Director for the Corporate board (using no more than 150 words in total).

In this essay, I will critically examine the role of HRM (Human Resource Management) in achieving sustained organizational performance in an organization of my choice. The essay will be divided into two parts:

Part 1:

Identify the organization’s overall strategy and its HRM strategy [10%]: In this section, I will identify the overall strategy and HRM strategy of the chosen organization.
Discuss the nature and characteristics of HRM, drawing on theory [15%]: In this section, I will discuss the nature and characteristics of HRM, drawing on relevant HRM theory.
Identify the main features of people management strategies, tools and procedures in your chosen organization for TWO topics [25%]: In this section, I will identify the main features of people management strategies, tools and procedures for two chosen topics in the selected organization.
Critically analyze HR practice-based challenges, relating rhetoric to reality [20%]: In this section, I will critically analyze HR practice-based challenges, relating rhetoric to reality in the selected organization.
Assess the arguments for and against HR achieving sustained organizational performance [10%]: In this section, I will assess the arguments for and against HR achieving sustained organizational performance in the selected organization.
Overall presentation & use of sources/referencing [5%]: This section will evaluate the overall presentation and use of sources/referencing in the essay.
Part 2:

Propose FOUR strategically and culturally appropriate HR practice recommendations [8%]: In this section, I will propose four strategically and culturally appropriate HR practice recommendations for the selected organization in relation to the two chosen topics.
Visually impactful poster [7%]: I will create a visually impactful poster that could be used by the HR Director for the Corporate board (using no more than 150 words in total).
The essay will use relevant HRM theory and literature to critically examine the role of HRM in achieving sustained organizational performance in the chosen organization and provide recommendations for enhancing current practice. The essay will use the Harvard Referencing style for sources and references.
