Human History
History can be defined as an account of something or a document describing past events, such as the history of the human revolution. History is illustrated as a narrative describing past events because it always talks about something that happened several years in the past. History is always derived from documents containing facts about a past event. Historians will try to acquire evidence to create their stories. Some may start with a theory where they may theorize the occurrence of certain events. They may have a theory of how humans evolved, and their evidence may be different tools that were developed and used in the past, such as cultivation tools. The primary role of history in society is to help individuals acquire a better knowledge of the world. It shows people a comprehensive picture of how government, technology, and social work in the past, therefore, helping them understand how it works in the current world.
Hunter/gatherer society was a type of society that obtained their daily food majorly from hunting and gathering (Breipohl, 2009). Some of the advantages of hunting and gathering societies include living more sustainably, having more leisure time, and living on healthier diets. The disadvantage of this society is catching and storing food because they were always searching for new foods. On the other hand, an agricultural society is that which people depended on agriculture for their survival (Iannaccone, 2011). The main advantage for this society is that they could produce more food they could store for future use. The disadvantage was that it required specialized tools for cultivation. Therefore, I prefer living in an agricultural society because it is more advanced than the hunter and gatherer society. Similarly, food is more abundant in this society.
From ancient times, humans have been striving to enhance their lifestyle. Some of the significant factors that resulted in the emergence and development of complex civilizations include trade. As the human population was increasing in the agricultural society, there was a demand for goods that enhanced trade. Trade was vital since it helped in the development and spread of civilization as people were exchanging goods from various regions of the world, their technological advances were implemented (Iannaccone, 2011). One of the barriers to determining the dates and causes of complex civilization is that there is no clear record from the past containing these factors.
Prehistoric cultures are mainly studied through the study of human activities in that period. The activities can be determined mainly by the type of tools present in the area. Through excavation methods, the archeologist may find a tool and determine its age. The type of the tool determines the age of its development, which may help identify cultures during that period (Iannaccone, 2011). Some common prehistoric elements of culture include certain artifacts like stones, bone, and pottery. Stone tools can give the archaeologist an insight into food resource types that were utilized. For instance, flaked stone warhead shows that it was from a gathering society. Prehistoric aspects of culture significantly relate to modern culture because currently, culture is determined by types of clothes and food used by a community.
Tools immensely helped in the development of humans from hunting and gathering societies to highly mechanized society. Stone tools were the first to be developed by humans, which they used in food production. The creation of tools helped in the establishment of a communal system for resource and labor division. In the current world, tools also play an important role in the development of society. Technology enhancement enabled the manufacturing of machines that eases production processes.
