ITT-121 Windows and Linux Integration
Windows entails a series of operation system that is developed by Microsoft. These systems contain a graphical user interface with desktops that enable the users to view multiple folders. It contains various features such as a new startup and Cortana integration that enables voice-controlled digital Helpant. It also contains a web browser that enables users to search on the internet, virtual desktop and other applications supported by windows. Linux is an open-source operating system that receives requests from other programs in a computer and relays them to the computer hardware. It also manages hardware resources, launches and handles applications, and also provides a user interface. It’s most favorably used in operations that require large clusters, running databases, endpoint computing and running mobile devices. These two operating systems can co-exist both at home and workplace environments.
This can be achieved by the use of two methods which entail dual-booting and the use of virtualization. Dual booting allows Linux to work alongside windows, it’s installed in a system that already contains windows. When the system resumes one can determine whether they want to use Linux or windows. This process involves disk partition and the boot order, the method can be used to three or more systems that are installed on the same computer. The important factor in this system is to install Linux after windows since the Linux installer knows how to operate with windows. It resizes the partition and sets up a boot loader with an option that allows one to choose windows during boot time. When window is installed first it doesn’t know how to resize its partitions and overwrites Linux boot loader with its own. This will require one to repair this boot loader at each reboot time (Prakash, 2019).

Virtualization allows one to run multiple operating systems by the use of virtualization programs such as Oracle Virtual Box, VM Ware, and Parallels’ workstations. This virtualization program is installed on the host or the operating system while the guests are installed within that application. The installed window will run directly on the hardware, the virtual box program is then installed in windows that when launched it allows Linux to run in it as a guest. It can also run by using a live version of Linux from a USB or DVD. Virtualization allows one to run both operating systems simultaneously without rebooting (Hoffman, 2014). Configurations involve the specifications provided for computer systems. This ranges from the system hardware, software and the processes required to conduct various activities. Most operation systems have various configurations that enable them to run. The configuration can be done either manually or automatically. I would recommend an automatic configuration.
The operating system has various utilities that enable the users to change the configuration of these systems like the Microsoft system utility configuration. It helps to deactivate or activate the software, and device drivers. Virtualization enables both systems to run simultaneously hence when configuring the system automatically one will maintain each system features. Windows contains XP which analyzes the visual impacts and determines whether to enable them to prevent the processor from consuming much. It also contains windows vista that updates the visual style, improves the search engines and provides new multimedia creation tools. Linux shell provides a special interpreter tool that can be used to execute commands of the operating system. Being a multiprogramming system it’s able to support various applications. Linux kernel and the programs enable it to run on any hardware. Automatically configuring the companies system and using virtualization will help utilize these individual features.
