Module #1 Post-Lab Question Submission

In this section, you will need to submit (individually) a fully typed Word document answering all the post-lab summary questions Part A (Page 16) and Part B (Page 17) in the laboratory manual. Make sure to include an appropriate title, your name and section number at the top of the page. Make sure to answer each question individually and not as a full paragraph combining all the answers.
Use the data you collected in the lab to answer the questions. You may use the data provided below ONLY if instructed by your TA.
See the rubric below for the criteria and the points allocated for each section. Make sure to show all the calculations involved.

Part A
Table 1: Determination of water density using different glassware
Glassware Trial Volume of water (mL) Mass of water (g) Density (g/mL) Mean density (g/mL) Standard deviation (g/mL)
Graduated cylinder 1 10.1 9.80
2 10.2 9.70
3 10.4 9.90
Beaker 1 10.5 14.2
2 10.0 13.2
3 10.7 12.5
Erlenmeyer flask 1 10.5 11.0
2 10.2 9.70
3 10.0 9.50
Volumetric flask 1 10.2 10.3
2 10.3 10.2
3 10.4 10.3

Part B
Determination of the nature of an unknown metal. Select one data set to work on. The identity of Unknowns A and B could be either copper, lead, brass, aluminum, gold, chromium or iron. Visit the link provided to look up the density of different metals: https://sites.google.com/site/chempendix/densities-of-pure-meta (Links to an external site.)
