Paper will be submitted through Turnitin.
Using Mishel’s Uncertainty in Illness Theory Paper (This paper was divided; this are the 2 questions I need to answer)
1- Demonstrate how the theory has been used in areas of nursing practice- Provide varied examples (peer -reviewed journal articles). (These articles are examples that can be used)

2- Application -Propose one new/novel use of the theory in a specific area of nursing practice. Explain the “theory in action.” Describe the application of the theory.
Novel way of using the theory (this new application was approved by the professor, needs to be used) Using Mishel’s Uncertainty in Illness Theory un patients 65 years of age and older with a diagnosis of Glaucoma.
(This are some articles I found that can be used)
Glaucoma and cataract are the two leading causes of blindness worldwide. It is estimated that there will be 11.2 million cases of blindness worldwide due to glaucoma, Zhang et al., 2018.
The loss of vision is not only associated with physical suffering, but also with mental distress, including illness uncertainty and psycho-logical disorders.
Mental distress has always been neglected by doctors and nurses, which can negatively affect therapy and quality of life, Jampel et al., 2007.
Once patients are diagnosed with glaucoma or cataract, the lack of communication and information stimulates the process of uncertainty, which includes unfamiliarity, ambiguity, vagueness, doubt and unpredictability, Mishel, (1981).
