Ben Silbermann founded Pinterest as a platform where people could collect items depending on their interests. His childhood hobby was receiving, and he believed that Pinterest would help people express who they were through their mutual love of collecting. With such a mission, the organization agreed that content was valuable and had an impact on influencing people’s lives. However, there was a need to take responsibility for the content that people view on the platform or face consequences that would hinder the organization’s growth (Meyer, 2020). The strategy, in this case, was to improve their feed with relevant content for each consumer. Such a strategy would help Pinterest stay at the top of the very competitive social media market. To achieve their goal successfully, the organization acquired data analytic techniques. Today, information technologies hold enormous data that could be used to improve any organization. Deciding to adopt data analytic technologies enabled Pinterest to use the pins people would collect and generate graphs. As the charts with pins alongside members increased, so did the level of data to insight increase. With enough insight, the company was able to embed insight into action and give viewers content that fits their interests. Organizations are more likely to retain their clients longer if they provide them with meaningful content. Furthermore, the company was willing to share part of its data analytics techniques with businesses using the Pinterest platform (Sehl, 2018). As it is also in Pinterest’s mission to make the world a better place, their move to add analytic options to the consumers’ end showed their willingness to help businesses improve their platform. Somewhat, Pinterest’s strategy to enhance content views was successful as per the founder’s remarks and the evident growth of the organization over the years.
