Policy Implementation and Enforcement
I believe that training is a necessity in the implementation of new policies. Training is vital as it serves to ensure that workers are aware of changes in the place of work as any new requirements. Preferably, training and communication about new policies should be done before implementation. That aside, it is important to note that failing to train employees, employers expose themselves to a risk that a worker may plead ignorance regarding a policy particularly during a disciplinary process (Johnson, 2014). Training is also a necessity because it contributes to augmented productivity and compliance with quality standards. Ensuring that employees understand the new policies and how they are implemented increases efficiency in business processes as well ensure employees strive to adhere to quality standards.
Background checks are important to information security. As such, background checks safeguard the organization from various potential risks such as loss of confidential information, bad reputation etc (Misra & Adewumi, 2019). Information technology is the lifeblood of a company, and even small problems can generate major consequences. Therefore, it is important to ensure that experts/professionals charged with the task of protecting this IT or other employees in the company do not have something in their past that raises red flags that could negatively impact their ability to safeguard the company’s information.
The failure of management to enforce the policies that are put in place can have dire consequences on the company. For instance, processes can get tangled making it hard for employees to carry out their tasks efficiently thus compromising operational excellence. Also, there is the risk of the company losing its employees to significant turnover on the basis of low employee morale and general dissatisfaction.
